Saying goodbye to Marilyn. Divine, Esperance and our favorite waiter at the KARIBU.

Saying goodbye to Marilyn. Divine, Esperance and our favorite waiter at the KARIBU.

Congratulations to JEAN MARIE NTWARI on his Civil Ceremony (equivalent to an engagement). Jean Marie is Executive Director at Urukundo.

It was an exciting day for Lucie. Her interview with the Consul at the US Embassy was a bit scary. It went well and she received her visa.
Lucie has finished Secondary School and will receive Second Language Training at THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN UTPA ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE.
It is her goal to become fluent in English and go on as a Divinity student. After her studies she will return to Rwanda and Urukundo with the hope of helping her brothers and sisters in our home to reach their goals in life. Lucie will make a great pastor. Her sense of humor, her love of children and her desire to serve God in whatever capacity possible is for Urukundo another HOPE MADE REAL.
Go for it Lucie. Your family at Urukundo loves you and will miss you while you are away!

Urukundo Center for the Arts presented its first attempt at Drama.
Our teachers presented a play for the children and Hope House became the stage and auditorium.
The play was WHO IS IN RABBIT'S HOUSE?
Here is rabbit's house:
And here is the cast of animal characters:
Head Teacher and his fellow actor/teachers taking a bow.

The performance was delightful and the kids said it was funny. It was a learning experience for all.
Congratulations to Urukundo Learning Center Staff for job well done!
Latest progress report on Primary 4.
The ground is cleared, leveled and the foundation is in progress.
How very wonderful.

February was a LOVE FROM THE HEART month. How appropriate that Urukundo should experience so much love in this month dedicated to sharing love. I am a bit sentimental about Valentines and passing LOVE along.
Our new dental relationship is so special - I could not wait to share it in this regular newsletter! Can any blessing top that or at least equal it?
Well, yes it can!
More wonderful news came our way.
We received a gift to allow us to continue building Urukundo Learning Center (primary 4). We give thanks for that gift. Yet to be constructed is Primary 4, 5 and 6. Primary 4 construction will start this March. This is the site chosen for that building.
It will set between the GLASCOW CENTER FOR THE ARTS and THE PRIMARY 1, 2, 3 BUILDING. The view from the school is spectacular.

Our worship Sunday morning is wonderful as our Precious Gems choir continues to grow in size. Community children come to sing with the Precious Gems.
Baby Jason is still too young for the choir, but it won’t be long.

Jenett taking some big steps! Walking is a big deal when you are a beginner.
Playing peek-a-boo with Mama.
Big chairs are fun to hide behind!
Prince, Kaboss and Rebekah collecting paper during Umuganda Day.
Umuganda is fun because Mama walks with the kids and points at the litter and then the kids pick it up! You got it - I do not bend real well any more so I point and they do the stooping. Anyway, they are built closer to the ground!
School kids enjoying the playground and soccer field.
Both fields are very busy places every day. Our play ground exists thanks to RAISED HANDS FOR AFRICA. This wonderful group hail from North Carolina.
Having babies and new Mamas were both big news during February!
Our baby pigs arrived, 7 at a time.
Not to be outdone and ever so much more important. Juliette, my lovely secretary, gave us a beautiful baby boy in February.
I don’t know how I will get along without her for 6 weeks! That is the mandatory leave time after having a baby. Thank goodness she answers phone calls.
The baby was not due until March so we thought we had time to train someone to work in the office.
As babies sometimes do, he decided he would come sooner. Juliette came to work not feeling well with discomfort in her lower abdomen. We decided she should go to the Medical Center across the road to be sure she was ok. Being an old hand at having babies, I was pretty sure she was in labor. When she didn’t come back to work it had to be so. Well about 3 hours later Julie sent me a text message I HAVE A BABY BOY. I was not surprised! Mama and baby are doing just fine and I get to give him his Christian name. Babies here get three names. I think I will call him Jerry.
