After 9 years of faithful service to Urukundo and Hope Made Real the publisher of our NEWSLETTER Sarah Ketchley in Seattle, Wa. is stepping down. Sarah has done a spectacular job and we are so grateful.  We will miss her but understand her need for new horizons. Sarah is not leaving the Urukundo Family but will continue to be a consultant for Mama.

Thank you Sarah!!

Newsletter for March

With all the activity here, I am also preparing to go home to visit friends and family. It is a pleasure I am looking forward to. Imagine 2 months and 9 days in the US. I hope you will all welcome me and be as glad to see me, as I will be to see you.

My schedule is here.

We had several interesting visitors this month but having two members of the Hope Made Real board arrive was the best.

Marilyn Ely & Carol Falke are no longer considered visitors - this is five years for both of them. They bring lots of goodies for Urukundo Kids, Urukundo Learning Center and Urukundo Dental Initiative.

A new toothbrush for every Urukundo Kid. The deal was they brought the old one to mama and received a new one.

Carol set forth a challenge to youth in her area. 1000 toothbrushes in a month for Urukundo kids and Dental Community kids. The challenge was more than met the collected over 2000 brushes and we are the benefactor. We not only can now give toothbrushes to all children but also adults.

Marilyn is a favorite with the kids. She and her colleague Meridith Bakke heard our cry for backpacks and the kids were delighted to receive and parade with their new backpacks.  The old ones were in bad shape.

Naming

When I was asked to give the new baby his christian name the name that flashed through my mind was Jerry. I now have a Jacob to remember my dad and a Jerry to remind me every day of my youngest son.

Edison and his new baby brother JERRY.

Edison and Jerry are the sons of my secretary Juliette.

Juliette met my son Jerry when he was here and was delighted to have her son share the name.

Drama

Urukundo Center for the Arts presented its first attempt at Drama.

Our teachers presented a play for the children and Hope House became the stage and auditorium.

The play was WHO IS IN RABBIT'S HOUSE?

Here is rabbit's house:And here is the cast of animal characters:

Head Teacher and his fellow actor/teachers taking a bow.

The performance was delightful and the kids said it was funny.  It was a learning experience for all.

Congratulations to Urukundo Learning Center Staff for job well done!

June 9

Fly out of Dullas, Washington, DC, home to Kagali, Rwanda, Africa

Greetings from Urukundo Village for February 2015

February was a LOVE FROM THE HEART month. How appropriate that Urukundo should experience so much love in this month dedicated to sharing love. I am a bit sentimental about Valentines and passing LOVE along.

Our new dental relationship is so special - I could not wait to share it in this regular newsletter! Can any blessing top that or at least equal it?

Well, yes it can!

More wonderful news came our way.

We received a gift to allow us to continue building Urukundo Learning Center (primary 4). We give thanks for that gift. Yet to be constructed is Primary 4, 5 and 6. Primary 4 construction will start this March. This is the site chosen for that building.

It will set between the GLASCOW CENTER FOR THE ARTS and THE PRIMARY 1, 2, 3 BUILDING. The view from the school is spectacular.
