Rain damage

An October deluge of rain caused damage. Life in the Land of a Thousand Hills.

October storms created mudslides, and poor drainage is a problem.

The solution is to route rainwater from the top of the mountain through ditches to the forest below. That bit of forest belongs to Urukundo. We work to protect the school compound while respecting our neighbors’ property.

The road below the school was destroyed.

Drainage ditches work. The water now has a path.

Bridge in place. The water has an escape route, preventing erosion and the entire mud bank from being destroyed. Engineers take note.
