Land of Joy
Feb 28, 2010
Land of Joy Farm is a home for older women who are widows and have no means of support, and is just one of a number of projects undertaken by the Urukundo Foundation. Hope Made Real is the US umbrella organization for all projects involving the Urukundo Foundation.
John and his wife Hope are the owners and managers of the farm. This project has been John's vision in ministry for all of his adult life and is also part of the vision for Urukundo. He will remain a volunteer at Urukundo Village and the Foundation will be supportive of his work for Land of Joy Home for Vulnerable Women.
During the genocide John lost his parents in his youth, and was taken care of by women who sacrificed for him. His wish to repay in some way has led him to create a place for older women with no means of support or assistance. He knows the women who helped him are gone but he feels he and Hope can make a difference in the lives of other older women.
His calling, his personal ministry. It is also part of Urukundo's ministry : our Bible tells us to care for the orphans & widows - James 1:27.
Look for pictures from the Farm and Home next month.
Gifts can be sent to Hope Made Real with a note in the memo: 'Land of Joy Home'.
Designated gifts go directly to the designated project and you will be notified that the gift has been received. Your gift is also tax deductible.
